Few cities have left as indelible an imprint on my imagination as Madrid. New friends I made while traveling there knew exactly where (and when) to take me for a spectacular view of the city. An open air cafe sits on the rooftop of the Circulo De Bellas Artes at the intersection of Calle de Alcalá and Gran Via. The panoramic views of Madrid, especially at sunset, are unmatched here. This painting captures the fire of Spanish sky and the Madrid's appreciation of its skyline as evidenced by the larger than life size statues of charioteers and their horses silhouetted against the horizon. I will never forget it, and I can't wait to return.
